Women’s History Month is a time to celebrate the power, ambition, and resilience of women making an impact in their communities. Today, we shine a light on Kennedy Miah Walker, a 20-year-old entrepreneur from Rosharon, Texas, who is forging her own path in business and inspiring the next generation along the way.


A Born Entrepreneur

For Kennedy, Entrepreneurial & Career Modeling—one of DUSN’s four core pillars—resonates deeply. As the owner of two businesses, she has turned her creativity and skills into opportunities, proving that success is built through dedication and consistency.

“I run a hair page called MiahsMethod, where I specialize in men’s hairstyles, and I also have an art page called JunkByMiah, where I customize cases, iPads, computers, and headphones with charms and embroidery patches,” Kennedy shares. “I’ve demonstrated this pillar by setting and achieving small goals in my businesses, and I know my nieces and nephews look up to me as a role model. That means the world to me.”

For Kennedy, entrepreneurship is more than just a career path—it’s about inspiring others to take control of their dreams and showing them that hard work leads to success.


A Mother’s Influence

Kennedy doesn’t have to look far for inspiration—her biggest role model is her mom. Watching her mother break barriers in the construction industry has been a driving force behind Kennedy’s own ambitions.

“My mom is truly incredible—I honestly believe she has superpowers! She juggles so many responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding leadership skills,” Kennedy says with admiration. “She is the only senior female leader in construction at her job, and she has hired and mentored multiple women in their careers. Living in the South, where times can be challenging, she continues to excel in her role, and I think that is absolutely amazing.”

Kennedy’s mother has not only shown her the power of determination and resilience, but she has also been her biggest cheerleader, constantly encouraging her with uplifting words and scriptures. “She has accomplished so much for herself and our family, and I want to be successful enough to provide her with anything she needs or wants.”


Staying Motivated & Pushing Forward

Every entrepreneur faces challenges, but Kennedy stays focused on her vision, thanks to her support system—her mother, her loved ones, and her boyfriend.

“My boyfriend believes in all my ideas, helps me come up with new ones, and encourages me to step out of my comfort zone,” she shares. “That kind of support makes all the difference.”

Beyond her loved ones, Kennedy remains motivated by the impact she is creating. She knows that staying consistent, setting goals, and never giving up are the keys to success.

“My advice to young women is to set goals and actively pursue them,” she says. “Many people give up on their dreams because they doubt their success or lack motivation. However, if you stay determined and consistent, you can accomplish anything.”
